2018 Town Hall is in Partnership with Senator Royce West. The goal of the town hall meeting is to connect state legislators, Department of Family Protective Services (DFPS) leadership and other key decision makers with foster/adoptive parents and kinship caregivers. The purpose of the town hall meeting is to: Convene foster and adoptive parents in activities which will provide opportunity for their voices to influence and impact the development of policies and laws concerning the welfare of children placed in foster care; Educate and engage foster and adoptive parents in the process to modify, change develop and oversee the implementation of local, regional, state and national laws concerning foster and adoptive parents; Building Future Families has established town hall meetings in order to: connect foster/adoptive parents and kinship caregivers with their state legislators, DFPS leadership and other key decision makers; to highlight current needs and concerns; discuss solutions to improve the quality of life for children in protective care; and, ultimately shape/influence future policy decisions.
