Care Grant Info
A benefit of STAR Health for youth in conservatorship is a Care Grant. Care Grants are small cash grants, which may be used for non-Medicaid items like art supplies, clothing or other personal items up to $100 per member, per year. To request, call member services (1-866-912-6283) and there will be a transfer to a member advocate and the member advocate can research whether the child has been given some or all of the Care Grant allocated for the year. The care grant typically comes via mail or federal express, usually as Walmart gift card. Typically a medical consenter or caseworker will request. If it’s not a medical consenter then Superior will need to follow up with the medical consenter to confirm the need. As each child cannot exceed receiving $100 per year, the member advocate will check to see if the child received it in the past. A medical consenter or caseworker can call and request the care grant for more than one child. See the brochure for care grants for more info.
